Contest: Dimples Ash Bark Textured Jewelry

Compelled to make a difference after the Emerald Ash Borer swept through their hometown of Uxbridge, ON, co-founders of Dimples Personalized Jewelry, Jeffrey Ross and Patti Moloney, launched a tree planting initiative. A portion of each sale of jewelry from their new line of Ash Bark textured jewelry will fund tree planting through Forests Ontario.

Since its accidental introduction from Asia, which was first discovered in 2002, the Emerald Ash Borer has had a devastating impact, killing up to 99% of the Ash trees in its path. Millions of Ash trees in North America have already succumbed to the infestation. Beautiful, mature residential areas, parks, and urban woodlands are now looking barren after the removal of affected trees.

“Bark is the fingerprint of a tree. Since Dimples is best known for its high definition fingerprint jewelry it seemed natural for us to create a line of bark jewelry as a way to raise awareness and celebrate the importance of woodlands and urban forests.” states Jeffrey.

With Earth Day on Sunday, April 22 and Arbor Day on Friday, April 27, Dimples Bark Jewelry will support and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable and urban forests.

“We are pleased to plant trees on behalf of Dimples” says Rob Keen, CEO of Forests Ontario. “Their one of a kind jewelry is a beautiful way of celebrating the beauty and benefits that ash trees, and our forests, provide us with on a daily basis.” According to Invasive Species Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the City of Toronto alone estimates that it will cost the city $37 million over five years to cut and replace the city-owned ash trees that are killed by the insect. Some estimates suggest that over the next decade more than 20 million trees will need to be removed and replaced within communities in the U.S. and Canada. This would cost over $10 billion, but could double if both urban and rural land is taken into account. These shocking statistics are what motivated Jeffrey and Patti to commemorate the tree species with their Ash Bark Collection of jewelry.

Rings, cuff links and pendant necklaces with ash bark texture are available in sterling silver and all karats of white, yellow, and rose gold at The jewelry incorporates recycled material and is made using sustainable manufacturing and recognized green technologies.
