Helix Healthcare Connects Mind and Body to Create Lasting Change

Carmen Littlejohn and Tara Rose joined us to talk about Helix Healthcare’s Group and its scientifically proven, cutting-edge techniques and wellness therapies that are being introduced into the Canadian landscape for the first time to help those suffering from mental health, substance abuse, and addiction issues.

They talked about Helix’s two core programs, Catalyst Wellness and Spectrum Recovery, and the innovative treatment model that is used to connect the mind and body and create lasting change.

How and why is this treatment different and more effective than traditional methods? Tara and Carmen explained it all…

…traditional methods of treating mental health and addiction issues focus primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which addresses the left hemisphere of the brain. This is the side focused on logic, thinking and analysis; whereas the right side of the brain is responsible for emotions, intuition and bodily sensations. At Helix Healthcare Group, we incorporate somatic therapies and holistic interventions that integrate both the left and the right hemisphere of the brain. These include: EMDR, Transpersonal Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Neuro-integration, Sound Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, Tai Chi and much more. Based on neuroscience and delivered with compassion, we offer a highly individualized approach with more one-to-one sessions than any other treatment facility in Canada.

Watch this clip to here Carmen, a psychotherapist at Helix, explain how she uses somatic therapy with her clients to deal with the challenging issues they face.
